This is quite exciting yet nerve wracking.
Today, in Ms. Kaplan's room, I made a call to Lafayette Library to see if they are interested in opening a show for the art show.
The lady who answered the call, Cathy, was very friendly.
I explained her the situation and my project and it seemed like she was open to help me.
However, it seems like we have some issue with the schedule, since Lafayette Library is holding so many events for the community. Not only that, we might also have some space issue. She told me that there might not be a space for 20 art work.
We set an appointment for next Friday at 3:30 so she can show me the gallery and the hall she was telling me about.
If the library doesn't work out, I might go for the Veteran's Hall in Lafayette. I have never been there but my mom said if we have a show at the Veteran's hall and donate money for a charity that helps the veterans, that could be a really great event. I think that is a fantastic alternative plan since I have a lot of respect for the veterans.
After the phone call, Ms. Kaplan and Ms. Findlay told me that I sounded very professional on the phone. That made me really happy.
My parents have been very supportive of my project so far. They think it is going to be a great experience for me. They know that I am determined to be a productive member of the society so they also know that taking English WISE was a good choice I made.
Kailey and I talked today in brunch about changing the time for the show. Since her community service paper and my research project is due in April, we thought early April could be a good time for the show instead of May.
One thing I am a little bit afraid of right now, is getting too many artist involved in this project. I know all the possible venues will have a limited space and I can not get all the awesome talented kids in the show although I really want to.
So far, both Kailey and I are submitting art pieces, and Ted, Ryan, Laurel, and Tiffany are submitting their works. I also want to ask Lisa Fishbein if she is interested in submitting some of her fashion works since she is known for her talent in fashion and designing. That would give a nice variety in the exhibit.
Tomorrow is our "first test" in English WISE. Everyone in the class is suppose to sign-in instead of us having a whole class. It sounds very simple but this is a small test of whether the students in WISE can be responsible or not. This project is after all about responsibility and handling things like an adult.
I am excited to have my first day of sign-in WISE day tomorrow and see how it goes.
